Appliance Repair questions from Collin County homeowners

The range in our new Princeton house quit. Is it still under warranty?

Probably, and that is the first thing to settle. Nearly every kitchen in Princeton, Anna, Celina and the newer phases of Melissa is a builder-installed package under ten years old, and the manufacturer only pays for warranty work done by its own authorized servicer. Give us the model and the closing date on the house and we will tell you whether the unit is likely still covered, so you do not pay out of pocket for a repair the manufacturer owes you.

Do you work on Sub-Zero, Wolf and Thermador?

Yes, with technicians trained on them. Built-in refrigeration, pro ranges and panel-ready dishwashers in Frisco, Prosper, west Plano and west McKinney are a different job from a freestanding unit: the panel comes off, the sealed system is designed differently and the diagnostics are brand-specific. The luxury service call is $149 to $199, waived when you approve the repair, and the part is usually ordered and installed on a scheduled return visit.

Why does my dishwasher leave spots now when it did not last year?

Because the water changed, not the dishwasher. Hardness and alkalinity in the North Texas Municipal Water District supply swing through the year, so a machine that rinsed clean in spring can leave film and spots by late summer. The technician checks the inlet valve, the screen and the spray arms for scale before anything else, and will tell you if a rinse-aid or a softener setting fixes it without a part.

How fast can you get to Frisco or Prosper?

Refrigerators and freezers are same-day in McKinney when you call before noon, and Frisco, Plano, Allen and Prosper are the same truck and the same promise. Washers, dryers, dishwashers and ovens are usually next day. Give us the gate or guard instructions when you book so the technician is not stuck at the entrance.

What is on the truck?

The parts that fail most on the major brands: igniters, bake elements, thermal fuses, inlet valves, drain pumps, belts, drum rollers, start relays and the most common control boards. Brand-specific and luxury parts are ordered the same day and installed on a return visit that is scheduled before the technician leaves.

How much does appliance repair cost in Collin County?

The service call is $89 to $119 and it is waived when you approve the repair. Most repairs land between $175 and $450 with parts and labor: refrigerators $200 to $550, washers $175 to $400, dryers $150 to $350, dishwashers $175 to $400, ovens and ranges $175 to $450. The number is flat, quoted after diagnosis, and does not change while the work is done.

Do you work in gated communities, HOA neighborhoods and apartments?

Gated and guard-gated communities, HOA subdivisions and apartment communities are routine for us: we carry insurance certificates for the gate, check in with the guard at Starwood, Stonebriar Village and the gated sections of Stonebridge Ranch, schedule through property managers where that is how the home runs, and text an arrival window so nobody waits by the door. In a rental the landlord usually books the repair, so have the property manager call us.

The oven died during a storm. Is that covered by anything?

Texas logged more than 40 million lightning events in 2024, more than the next three states combined by Vaisala's count, and DFW Airport sits under a lightning warning about 64 hours a year, with North Texas severe weather peaking from March through May. A large share of the control board failures we see follow a spring storm or a power flicker, and a whole-house surge protector at the panel is cheaper than the second board. Some homeowners policies cover surge damage, and the technician writes up the failure for your claim.

Should I repair it or replace it?

Under ten years old and a repair under half the price of a comparable new unit: repair. A sealed-system failure on a 12 to 15 year old budget refrigerator, or a dead main board on a bottom-tier machine: replace. The technician gives you that call on the spot and charges the service call only if you decide to replace.

Are you licensed and insured?

Texas has no state license for appliance repair, and the TDLR air conditioning rules specifically exempt residential refrigerators, freezers and ice machines, but any technician opening a sealed refrigerant system must hold EPA Section 608 certification. Texas plumbing law lets an appliance dealer connect a gas range or dryer to an existing outlet with a code-approved connector without a plumbing license, while new or altered gas piping is licensed plumbing, so a licensed plumber handles it. We carry general liability insurance, with certificates for gated communities and HOAs on request.

Is the repair guaranteed?

Every repair carries a parts and labor warranty, with the period written on the invoice because it depends on the part. If the same part fails inside that window, the return visit is on us.

Text the model number off the door sticker to (972) 737-4856 and the likely part is on the truck for the first visit.
